A letter from Akos Butterfly to Akos Boy —

Hello Akos —
I flew all the way to the United States with Auntie Fran. I learned to speak English very quickly. I hope you can understand me! I am staying with Auntie Fran and Uncle Eric. Also Splash. I am a little afraid of her, but I can fly away if she tries to catch me.
Yesterday was Thanksgiving Day. It is an American holiday. It celebrates friendship between the Pilgrims who came to America long ago, and the Native Americans who helped them. It is also a big party.

The party was at Ellen’s house. Here is a picture of her house.
Outside the house, I saw a dragon! But not a real one, so I was not scared.
Inside the house were many people. And the table was all ready for a big feast.
I found a place to sit in a pretty branch, right there on the table.
I sat on the piano.
And I warmed myself by the fire in the party-room.
Here you can see some friends sitting and talking after eating dinner. Uncle Eric is in the center of the photo. Uncle Eric does not like this photo. He says it makes him look fat. He is not fat.
And here you can see a wonderful meringue cake that Meredith made. I sat in the middle and I ate a lot!! It was perfect food for a butterfly!
Goodby Akos Boy! I will write to you again soon!
Your friend, Akos Butterfly
